The Validity and Reliability of Online Examinations in the State Universities of Sri Lanka: An Empirical Study

The aim of the current study is to examine validity and reliability online examinations through undergraduates’ lecturers’ perceptions identify ways in which can be more focused effective. To this end, a questionnaire including both qualitative quantitative inquiries were administered among forty-five undergraduates fifteen lecturers three state universities Sri Lanka. Thematic Analysis SPSS software used analyze data respectively. Findings indicate that 80% preferred traditional assessments given its flexibility, validity, fairness. Majority encountered issues during examinations, thus they reported need improving methods strategies way measure performance accurately. Moreover, social, economic, technological, psychological also hindered effectiveness examination considerable extent. results cannot regarded as valid reliable because unable evaluate learning outcomes accurately onsite examinations. has implications for undergraduates, test administrators, lecturers, university management.
